At Wildflower Portrait Studio, nothing is more important to us than the safety and comfort of your precious newborn. As a certified newborn safety specialist, I, Kelly Roland, want to take you behind the lens and share the careful techniques we use to ensure your baby's well-being during our photography sessions.

The Importance of Newborn Safety Certification

When it comes to newborn photography, technical skill with a camera is just the beginning. Proper handling and posing of newborns require specialized knowledge and training. That's why I've invested in becoming certified in newborn photography safety.

This certification isn't just a piece of paper – it's a commitment to your baby's safety and your peace of mind. It covers crucial aspects such as:

  • Safe handling and posing techniques

  • Temperature regulation in the studio

  • Hygiene practices to protect delicate newborn skin

  • Recognition of signs of distress in babies

Our Safety-First Approach

Every pose and every prop we use is carefully considered with your baby's safety as the top priority. Here's a glimpse into how we ensure a safe environment for your newborn:

  1. Temperature Control: Our studio is always kept warm and cozy, typically between 80-85°F, to keep your baby comfortable when undressed.

  2. Sanitization: All props, blankets, and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before each session.

  3. Gentle Posing: We never force a baby into a pose. If a particular position isn't working, we move on to something else.

  4. Parent Involvement: We encourage parents to be nearby during the shoot, both for the baby's comfort and for any feeding or soothing needs.

  5. Composite Images: For more complex poses, we often use composite images. This means we take multiple photos with you supporting your baby and then blend them in post-processing for a safe final image.

We take the time to soothe, settle, and carefully position your little one, ensuring we capture those precious early moments without ever compromising on safety.

Remember, when you choose a newborn photographer, always ask about their safety training and certifications. Your baby's well-being is too important to leave to chance.
